The Meadowlands Chamber on Monday announced it named long-term chamber member Dan Baer, senior vice president of WSP USA (formerly Parsons Brinkerhoff), the organization’s new board chair. The chamber also named Arthur “Scott” Porter of Fischer Porter & Thomas P.C. as its vice chair and CPA James Brown its treasurer.
Baer has been a leader in the chamber’s efforts to secure state and federal funding for significant infrastructure projects, including the Secaucus Junction train station and its rail connection to the sports complex. He succeeds Tim White of River Crossing, and pledges to continue major current initiatives on convention center development and reform of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority permitting procedures, as well as add a new focus on transportation to respond to the approval of the Gateway Project.
As board chair, he expects to expand the chamber’s already-significant role as a resource for information to its members, especially in regard to connecting small businesses with existing funding opportunities and disaster preparedness. Additionally, he will be exploring ways to provide members with more opportunities to both ask for assistance and be active participants in implementing programs and services to meet those requests.
“Dan has been a leading voice in identifying regional needs, opportunities for growth and solutions during difficult times,” said Jim Kirkos, CEO and president of the Meadowlands Chamber. “The world has changed dramatically in the past two years, but change is nothing new; Dan’s ability to be two steps ahead of what’s coming and mobilize others into action will be great for our members and our region.”
