MMCSC operating room nurses receive certification from CCI

The Surgical Services perioperative nursing team at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus has been officially certified by the Competency & Credentialing Institute as “CNOR Strong.”

This achievement officially recognizes facilities with a high percentage of Certified Perioperative Nurses, creating a culture of patient safety.

“A CNOR certification is an example of our perioperative nursing team’s dedication to excellence and commitment to their patients,” said Judy Colorado, chief nursing officer and vice president of Patient Care Services for MMCSC. “Continual education and certification is imperative for O.R. nurses to keep their skills sharp in areas such as infection prevention, perioperative patient assessment and diagnosis and emergency situations that could arise. We are very proud of their commitment to pursuing this prestigious certification.”

CNOR is a rigorous certification that assesses the knowledge and skills of a perioperative nurse after a minimum of two years of clinical practice. This five-year certification is a mark of distinction and demonstrates a commitment to upholding the highest standards in patient safety.
