Cooper University Health Care is donating more than $50,000 in medical supplies to help injured and displaced citizens in war-torn country of Ukraine.
Cooper’s donation is part of an effort coordinated by the New Jersey Hospital Association and member hospitals in conjunction with the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America.
The donations collected from New Jersey hospitals will be transported from New Jersey to Poland and then will be distributed to selected dropoff points across Ukraine. Cooper is donating a wide range of medical and surgical supplies, intravenous catheters and disinfecting supplies.
“As we watch the atrocities occurring daily in Ukraine, we feel an obligation to help our health care colleagues across the world with much-needed supplies during this crisis,” said Philip Norcross, chairman of the Cooper Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Cooper University Health Care.
“Like everyone, we at Cooper are deeply troubled by the situation in Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis developing there, so we are pleased to join our colleagues in sending supplies in support of the Ukrainian people,” said Kevin O’Dowd, co-CEO of Cooper.
“We know that the need is especially great for medical supplies at this time, and we hope these supplies will provide help and encouragement for our courageous health care colleagues caring for the Ukrainian people,” said Dr. Anthony J. Mazzarelli, co-CEO of Cooper.
