Design firm Mancini Duffy acquires Gertler & Wente

Mancini Duffy — a national design firm with offices in Millburn and Red Bank — has acquired New York-City-based Gertler & Wente Architects in an effort to further expand its footprint in the health care, multifamily residential, restoration, institutional and religious sectors.

Mancini co-owner and President Christian Giordano said the acquisition is part of Mancini’s business goals of continuous and exponential growth in the region for 2022 and beyond.

“For the past decade, part of our long-term growth plan has been to expand and diversify into new market sectors like hospitality, aviation, media and industrial,” he said. “There’s great synergy between Mancini and Gertler & Wente Architects, and we see a great opportunity to develop and grow together as a united team.”

Established in 1985, Gertler & Wente Architects is a design-oriented firm that focuses on creative design solutions to meet clients’ needs and aspirations. And, while the firm is most noted for projects in New York City, it has a history of work in New Jersey, too, including a number of projects at Rutgers University.

Gertler & Wente Partner Larry Wente said the partnership will allow the company to pursue bigger projects.

“The idea of joining forces with a larger, diverse firm like Mancini allows us to pursue larger, more architectural projects,” he said.

Mancini, which will open a new headquarters in Midtown Manhattan in May, opened its satellite office in Red Bank last October.

At the time, Giordano expressed the importance of New Jersey to the firm’s future plans.

“As there has been migration out of New York City, more company leaders who reside in Monmouth County realize their company can be here, too, to cater to their existing local clients,” Giordano said. “It is essential to be nearby to foster relationships to fuel our growth.

“Right now, it’s the busiest Mancini has ever been with projects in New Jersey. In some respects, the focus of our projects has shifted from larger corporate headquarters to more regional offices and specialty buildings and interiors.”

Co-owner and Principal Scott Harrell agreed.

“I see tremendous opportunity for Mancini to expand throughout New Jersey,” he said.
