The LPGA, the world’s leading professional golf organization for women, has again named RWJBarnabas Health the official health care provider of the LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup 2022 tournament.
Taking place this week from Wednesday through Sunday at historic Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, 2022 marks the second straight year that RWJBarnabas Health is serving as a partner in the prestigious event that showcases the world’s best professional players and helps drive the LPGA’s mission to engage, empower and support girls and women.
Led by local anchor institutions Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and Clara Maass Medical Center, RWJBarnabas Health will be responsible for all on-site Emergency Medical Services throughout tournament week, and special attention will be given to melanoma awareness, with signage promoting preventive measures placed across the tournament venue.
“RWJBarnabas is the premier health care system in New Jersey, and their support of this event greatly helps our mission to continue engaging, empowering and supporting girls and women through this great sport,” Tracy Hupko, sales & marketing manager, Cognizant Founders Cup, said.
“As tens of thousands of attendees, many from the surrounding communities, come out to enjoy the best professional golfers in the world this week at Upper Montclair CC, we see a tremendous opportunity to educate them on melanoma awareness, while sharing preventive measures to stay safe from the sun,” Dr. Franz Smith, northern lead for the Melanoma and Soft Tissue Oncology Program and medical director of the Melanoma Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, said.
Teaneck-based Cognizant will continue to serve as title sponsor for the 2022 Cognizant Founders Cup, an event that pays tribute to the 13 founding members of the LPGA. The Cognizant Founders Cup offers a $3 million purse, which is the largest of any LPGA Tour event outside of the majors and the CME Group Tour Championship.
