McCarter & English announced Monday that it is expanding to the Midwest with the opening of an office in Carmel, Indiana — a well-known suburb located just north of Indianapolis.
The office will be led by partners Katherine Althoff, Amy Fisher and Kim Metzger, part of a group of eight lawyers and five professional staff that are coming to Newark-based McCarter from Ice Miller, a major Indianapolis firm with locations across the country. Two nurse paralegals also are joining the firm.
McCarter’s new team will focus primarily on complex product liability litigation, cybersecurity and health care compliance, and brings a wealth of experience representing pharmaceutical, chemical, device and other manufacturers in federal and state courts in Indiana and nationwide.
The office will be located at 880 W. Monon Green Blvd. (Suite 101) in Carmel.
McCarter Chairman Joseph Lubertazzi said the expansion made sense on a number of levels.
“Our firm is continuously exploring opportunities for growth to broaden and enhance our ability to serve our clients, and we could not have found a better fit than our new colleagues in Indianapolis,” he said. “We have been fortunate enough to work as co-counsel alongside Amy, Katherine, Kim and their teams for many years and observed firsthand their unique expertise and excellent reputation in the areas of drug and device litigation, data security and privacy.
“They are a tremendous addition to our firm and our litigation practice, in particular, and will lead our growth efforts in this region.”
Firmwide Managing Partner Joseph Boccassini agreed.
“We are incredibly proud to welcome Kim, Amy and Katherine to the firm,” he said. “We have witnessed their remarkable talent as leaders, counselors and advocates for years, and are looking forward to working with them to continue serving our clients and expanding our presence in the Midwest.”
