Quest Diagnostics names Samad its new CFO

Quest Diagnostics has named a new executive vice president and chief financial officer, it announced this week.

Sam Samad will join the Secaucus-based testing company from Illumina Inc., where he had been CFO since 2017. He will succeed Mark Guinan, who is retiring, effective July 11.

“Sam Samad is an excellent addition to the Quest senior leadership team, bringing extensive financial operations and industry experience through his role as CFO of Illumina and time in senior positions at other major health care companies,” CEO-elect Jim Davis said in a prepared statement. “I look forward to partnering with Sam closely as our team executes on our two-point business strategy to accelerate growth and drive operational excellence.”

During his career, Samad has also held senior leadership roles at Cardinal Health, and financial and sales roles at Eli Lilly and Co.

“I am excited to join the Quest Diagnostics team, and look forward to leveraging my financial and operational experience to help Quest grow and thrive in a post-pandemic world,” Samad said in a statement.

Guinan will remain at Quest through the report of second-quarter financial results.
