Woman-led project team delivers 23,000+ sq. ft. fitness facility in Montvale

Stone Creek Construction Group of Matawan said Friday that it completed work on a unique, luxury fitness facility in Montvale.

Michael Bruno, Stone Creek’s president, said the firm served as general contractor of Drop Fitness and the project team was led by Allison Koterba, one of the firm’s project managers.

In her career, Koterba has been on numerous construction project teams, working side by side with clients and subcontractors in New Jersey, planning, coordinating, scheduling and monitoring projects to ensure timely and on-budget delivery.

“My goal is to create a team and an environment for success” Koterba said, “and having open lines of communication and transparency with the client is key to having that happen. Our company is focused on regular and consistent communications with everyone involved and it absolutely makes a difference in completing projects on time and within budget.”

Koterba said she would like to see more women in the construction field and is a member of CREW NJ, which is dedicated to supporting women in the commercial real estate industry. SCCG is also a sponsor of the group.

“Only 10% of people in construction management are female and it is even less when looking at women on actual job sites,” Koterba said. “It’s a great industry and our company wants to encourage more women to consider the field.”

Previously a gym, the entire 23,180-square-foot building was gutted and renovated inside and out over eight months time. The facility celebrated its grand opening in May.

The Drop Fitness concept is based on having four New York City concepts under one roof. The four studios are Fhitting Room (high-intensity interval training and strength training), Humming Puppy (yoga), Physique 57 (barre) and Mile High Run Club (running). Beyond the studios, the project also includes a training area, cardio and free weights space, locker rooms with saunas and cold plunge showers, a kids club and a cafe. The entire membership experience is through the facility’s app, where members can choose individual services or a subscription.
