Bennett has helped the Port win two major national awards (including the American Society for Public Administration) for its efforts to promote and foster diversity, equity and inclusion goals. These awards recognize the agency’s overall commitment to creating a more equitable workplace, in particular the 25-point diversity action plan developed by the agency in the wake of the murder of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter protests. These areas of focus include evolving the culture, improving manager and employee development while adding increased transparency regarding in all human resources practices and functions so the Port is demonstrating its commitment not only through words but actions.
