ShopRite of Greenwich marks 25th Anniversary as being a family-owned supermarket

ShopRite of Greenwich recently marked its 25th anniversary and a quarter-century of service and commitment to the community.

When the store opened in 1997 on Route 22 in the Phillipsburg area, it was the third ShopRite for the Colalillo family and their company, ShopRite of Hunterdon County, which also operates ShopRite stores in Clinton and Flemington, as well as Bethlehem and Yardley, Pennsylvania.

The family’s first store, ShopRite of Flemington, will mark its 65th anniversary next year.

“We are so thankful for our associates at the ShopRite of Greenwich who have made us such an integral part of this vibrant community over the last 25 years, and we are so proud that several members of our team have been with us since we opened our doors in 1997,” Joe Colalillo, president of ShopRite of Hunterdon County, said.

The store today remains a constant in the community by offering quality fresh foods and groceries and meeting customers’ changing needs and the needs of the community. Over the last 25 years, the store has supported neighborhood schools, sports teams and religious and civic organizations. ShopRite of Greenwich also supports Norwescap food bank.

Colalillo, whose father founded ShopRite of Hunterdon County more than six decades ago, today serves as president of the company and operator of the family’s five ShopRite stores. The company employs 1,800 associates.

“We attribute much of our success to our great family of associates who care about the customers and the communities where our stores operate. They are the reason we continue to thrive over the decades,” he said.
