STRO Cos. and JLL negotiate Diaz Foods’ new 19,500 sq. ft. lease in Hackensack

Leading Hispanic food distributor expands its operations with its newest Hackensack location

Diaz Foods, a leading Hispanic food distribution company, inked a 19,500-square-foot lease for a new Hackensack warehouse and distribution facility, to where it is relocating, according to a Tuesday announcement from the STRO Cos.

Located at 215 S. Newman St., directly off Route 17 and in close proximity to Interstate 80, the property offers tenants a prime location for distribution to New York City and the surrounding New Jersey markets.

Charlotte Belling and Caroline Eisen of JLL represented Diaz Foods in the transaction, while the STRO Cos.’ Elliot Ferris, director of leasing, handled negotiations on behalf of the landlord.

“215 S. Newman provides an unmatched opportunity for distribution tenants. The property’s proximity to Manhattan and the Port markets unlocks tremendous value for tenants like Diaz Foods,” Ferris stated. “This transaction is another example of New Jersey’s importance in the global supply chain.”

“As it continues to expand its national footprint, Diaz Foods was seeking a highly accessible warehouse facility that offered proximity to both its customers and its employees,” said Belling. “215 S. Newman St. fulfills both requisites, with its location in the heart of the Meadowlands industrial market just seven miles from the George Washington Bridge.”

Atlanta, Georgia-based Diaz Foods serves more than 6,000 customers in 29 states. In announcing this transaction, STRO also noted its expansion plans.

“We are eager to continue purchasing more industrial warehouses in northern New Jersey and Florida. We have a considerable amount of capital to deploy and are interested in either core-plus, value-add or opportunistic acquisitions,” Ferris added.
