2 leading minority- and woman-owned furniture dealers combine to form largest in nation

Effective July 1, two minority- and woman-owned MillerKnoll furniture dealers have merged to create the largest minority- and woman-owned MillerKnoll dealer in the country.

CFI Workspace of Pennsauken and Spectrum of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, on Thursday announced they joined forces to bring their extensive knowledge of MillerKnoll furniture solutions and superior service to their clients both regionally and nationally.

MillerKnoll is a collective of brands that comes together, including Herman Miller and Knoll, plus Colebrook Bosson Saunders, DatesWeiser, Design Within Reach and others.

“We are thrilled that the incredible team at Spectrum will be joining CFI Workspace,” Amanda Chevalier, president of CFI Workspace, said. “This is a natural alignment of two firms with the same values, deep local roots and unparalleled product knowledge. Together, our firm will provide an even deeper bench of innovative solutions for all our clients’ office needs.”

Headquartered in Pennsauken, CFI Workspace said it is currently evaluating its footprint, but its 20,000-square-foot showroom there will remain. It currently has over 200,000 square feet of showroom, office, and warehouse space across locations in New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania.

The merger will further strengthen CFI’s ability to provide design solutions, superior client service and its ability to deliver projects coast-to-coast, as the acquisition of Spectrum brings the collective talents and market-leading capabilities of both organizations together. The transaction adds approximately 40 employees to CFI, including former Spectrum owner and CEO Peggy Kelly, who will remain involved as a strategic adviser. Both firms are committed to managing a seamless and thoughtful transition for employees and clients.

“Both Spectrum and CFI have similar philosophies in business and will bring a deep level of design, proactiveness, style, innovation and service to our community,” Kelly said. “I’m thrilled to be back together with Amanda and we look forward to the next chapter with our new team at CFI Workspace.”
