NAI James E. Hanson helps bring first retail tenant to brand New Hackensack mixed-use building

NAI James E. Hanson on Thursday said it negotiated a lease with Gong Cha for 1,050 square feet of retail space at 210 Main Street in Hackensack.

NAI James E. Hanson’s Anthony Cassano, Vice President, represented the landlord, 210 Main Urban Renewal/Hackensack Investors LLC, and the tenant, Gong Cha, in the transaction.

Gong Cha is an international beverage franchise specializing in freshly prepared bubble tea and has opened over 1,650 cafes in 20 countries. Its new Hackensack location will bring a one-of-a-kind bubble tea and coffee bar to the city to further expand the range of retail options available to residents and visitors alike.

Opened in 2021, 210 Main Street is a reimagining of a nearly 100-year-old former bank headquarters in downtown Hackensack. By preserving the building’s unique architecture and iconic dome, 210 Main Urban Renewal/Hackensack Investors, LLC has created a unique mixed-use property.

The building boasts 126 luxury residences that are complimented by over 4,500 square feet of ground-level retail. In addition, the building’s downtown location affords it easy access to Hackensack’s downtown redevelopment zone with a wide range of new restaurants, shops and entertainment options. The building is also easily accessible to Hackensack University Medical Hospital, the Shops at Riverside, the Bergen County Courthouse and Routes 4, 46, and 80.

“Hackensack’s continued redevelopment continues to present a great opportunity for retail tenants hoping to tap into one of the state’s fastest-growing cities,” Cassano said. “With thousands of residential units coming online over the next several years and critical infrastructure improvements already underway, we are excited to continue to work closely with landlords to help them bring high-quality tenants to properties like 210 Main Street across the city.”
