Former deputy chief of staff for Assemblyman Conaway hired as N.J. Chamber’s new director of government relations

Amirah Hussain has joined the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce as director of government relations, according to a Monday announcement from the chamber.

In her new role, Hussain will advocate on behalf of the business community, primarily in health care, economic development and taxation.

Prior to her new position, Hussain previously was deputy chief of staff for Assemblyman Herb Conaway (D-Delran), where she focused on policy research and overseeing daily office operations. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in health care administration from Rutgers University.

“I look forward to using my experience in state government to advocate for New Jersey Chamber of Commerce member companies,” Hussain said, “and to help foster the kind of business climate in which businesses here will flourish.”

Hussain reports to Michael Egenton, executive vice president of government relations with the chamber.
