Chowderfest 2022 on Long Beach Island offers food, drink and chowder

Chowderfest 2022 on Long Beach Island is back. This year, the event returns to Beach Haven on Oct. 1, along with the Chowder Champion announcements.

With over 50 vendors, live music, beer on tap, wine, chowder and local food specialties for purchase, the event is sure to be fun for the whole family — and is pet-friendly.

All chowder is for purchase on the “Chowder Trail.” Enthusiasts who register ahead to be a “Traveling Taster” can join all who flock to the LBI region from Sept. 3-30 to taste chowders from local restaurants in a friendly-yet-fierce competition where eventgoers can purchase and enjoy.

Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 30. Select participating restaurants will be at the event selling their chowder along with other menu items.

Since 1989, the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce fundraiser has been raising funds for out-of-area marketing, ongoing business/nonprofit support programming and scholarships. The festival is planned and managed by volunteers of the business community through the chamber board and Chowderfest Committee. This event has never been produced as a for-profit venture, and always operated to positively promote the region bringing off-season dollars to expand the local economy.

Spanning over three decades, the festival continues to evolve to keep the mission of reaching new audiences, raising awareness of Long Beach Island, and bringing people together for the unofficial end of summer.

Chowderfest 2022 runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 1.
