The New Jersey Bankers Association announced Wednesday that it will establish a New Jersey Bankers Banking Industry Internship Program.

The program, which will kick off soon, will include traditional internship programs, exclusive networking events, an educational webinar series and a presence at select universities’ job fairs. It will be open to all New Jersey college students.

NJBankers will work with local universities and member organizations to place interns in opportunities that would best benefit both the student and organization.

Jessica Jakobson, NJBankers vice president of professional development and liaison to the internship program, said it’s a win-win.

“Introducing students to the benefits of a career in the banking industry will allow them to fully explore the different opportunities that banks offer before deciding on a career path,” she said.

The program’s genesis came this past summer, when NJBankers, along with several member banks, hosted a joint networking event for interns at Top Golf. The event allowed interns from multiple organizations to network with each other, meet bank CEOs and learn about different opportunities in the banking profession.
