Urby kicks off leasing at its newest location in Newark (SLIDESHOW)

Immediate occupancy available at innovative brand’s newest community

Urby has officially kicked off leasing at its newest location, in Downtown Newark, immediately adjacent to Rutgers University, according to a Tuesday announcement from Urby and LMXD, which teamed up to develop the newest mixed-use community.

Prospective residents can now schedule private tours of Urby’s studio to three-bedroom apartments and one-of-a-kind social spaces. Monthly rents start at $2,035, with immediate occupancy available.

Located at 155 Washington St., Newark Urby features 250 brand new apartments in a completely restored and modernized historic 18-story Art Deco tower. The building’s original design elements have been preserved to create residences that blend 1920s-era architectural charm with contemporary finishes and functionality.

Designed by Amsterdam-based architect Concrete, Newark Urby features imaginative interior design and a strong focus on events and resident experience, hallmarks of the Urby brand.

“We are thrilled to begin leasing at Newark Urby, which will be a fantastic residential complement to the thriving, cultural hub of Newark,” David Barry, founder and CEO of Urby, stated. “We look forward to connecting with the city’s energy and spirit while contributing thoughtful design and engaging experiences to our residents.”

“Newark Urby offers an unparalleled living experience, from its innovative design to high quality finishes and top-flight amenities,” Sam Chapin, managing director at LMXD, said. “Located right in the heart of transit-rich Downtown Newark, residents will also have direct access to regional rail service and the neighborhood’s lively and expanding cultural scene. We are excited to welcome residents to one of Newark’s most highly anticipated apartment buildings.”

Newark Urby residents will enjoy amenity spaces that radiate social energy, including a rooftop terrace with barbecue grills, huge fitness area with yoga studio, a fully serviced resident coworking area and a private dog park. The building will also include roughly 4,000 square feet of neighborhood retail highlighted by a café, as well as a 4,000-square foot Rutgers-Newark welcome center.

Newark Urby is located centrally in the heart of Downtown Newark, across the street from Rutgers-Newark and just blocks from light rail service and the New Jersey Transit Broad Street Station, and a short walk from Newark Penn Station, with access to Amtrak, PATH and NJ Transit rail. It is also just a few blocks away from both Military Park and Washington Park.
