Rutgers Athletics on Tuesday said it launched R Edge NIL Marketplace — the university’s official name, image and likeness, or NIL, marketplace for student-athletes. The marketplace offers supporters, brands and sponsors a single, streamlined platform to easily find, pitch, book and compensate Rutgers student-athletes for their NIL services.
Rutgers student-athletes will have profiles on the R Edge NIL Marketplace, which they can customize and promote to fans on their personal social media channels. Student-athletes will be able to review opportunities, receive deals and accept compensation, all within the Opendorse app. This marks an expansion of the existing partnership between Rutgers and the Opendorse Ready platform, which provides social media valuations as well as on-demand NIL education.
“The R Edge NIL Marketplace provides a best-in class solution to connect our Scarlet Knights with NIL opportunities,” Rutgers Athletic Director Pat Hobbs stated. “As we continue to educate and equip our student-athletes to navigate the new world of NIL, it’s equally important that the businesses and supporters who want to partner with our them and provide NIL opportunities have an efficient and centralized platform. So, if they have been thinking of using a Rutgers student-athlete to promote their business they now have an easy way to connect.”
