Johnson & Johnson MedTech names Tezel company group chairman and Global Head of MedTech Innovation and R&D

Johnson & Johnson MedTech said it named Ahmet Tezel company group chairman and Global Head of MedTech Innovation and R&D, following Peter Shen’s retirement which will take place at the end of this year following more than 25 years of service to Johnson & Johnson.

Tezel will work with Shen, prior to the end of the year, to ensure a smooth transition.

Tezel will report to Ashley McEvoy, executive vice president and worldwide chairman, Johnson & Johnson MedTech and will join the MedTech global leadership team. In this role, he will be responsible for end-to-end aspects of research and development for Johnson & Johnson MedTech as it makes its solutions smarter, less invasive, and more personalized.

Tezel currently serves as worldwide VP of R&D for J&J Medtech’s Ethicon business. Under his leadership, the Ethicon R&D pipeline value increased two-fold, the company said.

Tezel joined Johnson & Johnson with broad experience in the medical technology industry including a strong history of driving innovation strategy, delivering new products to market and retaining and advancing key talent. He is a Credo-based leader who is dedicated to developing people and creating an inclusive work environment.
