Morristown Medical Center Health Pavilion in Rockaway opens new ambulatory surgery center

State-of-the-art facility offers nationally recognized services including focal one robotic technology for treating prostate cancer

Atlantic Health System announced the opening of the newly constructed ambulatory surgery center at the Morristown Medical Center Health Pavilion in Rockaway.

Located at at 333 Mount Hope Ave., the state-of-the-art facility offers four operating rooms, 15 pre-operative and post-anesthesia care unit bays, the latest technology, equipment and instrumentation and hospital grade sterilization.

“This is an important strategic step forward as we continue to drive growth and expansion,” Pam Mestel, executive director, Surgical Services at Morristown Medical Center said. “We are so proud of this brand-new facility that offers patients high-quality surgical services and exemplary care, with the added convenience of having surgeries and procedures performed safely outside the hospital setting.”

The Rockaway Pavilion opened in 2016 and Atlantic Health System purchased the building and property in 2019. An extension of Morristown Medical Center’s nationally recognized health care services, it is conveniently located next to the Rockaway Town Square Mall and convenient for communities in the surrounding areas including Mount Arlington, Denville, Dover, Boonton, Morris Plains, Wharton, Roxbury and Randolph.

The center includes 75,000 square feet of multi-specialty and diagnostic services to provide accessible, high-quality health care to the surrounding area. It offers the latest advancements in operative services including orthopedics, podiatry, plastics, general, ENT, vascular, gynecology, as well as breast and urological surgeries. Endoscopic services such as colonoscopies are also available.

Located on the third floor, the surgery center features an open environment flooded with natural light and the interior design blends fresh, dynamic finishes with neutral wood tones and crisp soft accents. The project includes a new rooftop air handler and emergency generator, as well as a reinforced floor system to meet stringent operating room vibration standards.

Among the latest technological advancements offered at the center, is non-invasive prostate tissue ablation using Focal One, the first and only robotic platform using high performance, high intensity focused ultrasound technology. This allows urologists to control precise targeting and destruction of only a small portion of the prostate, sparing healthy surrounding tissue and minimizing side effects.
