New, 40-unit MC Residences in Montclair officially breaks ground

Developed in partnership between The Hampshire Companies, Circle Squared Alternative Investments and The Pinnacle Companies, is set to open in late 2023

The MC Residences, a new 40-unit, four floor residential building in the heart of Montclair, officially broke ground last month.

The new development is a partnership between The Hampshire Companies and The Pinnacle Companies, with investment partner Circle Squared Alternative Investments.  Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners have been tapped to lead the design, while Deugen Development has been appointed General Contractor.

Located at 37 Orange Road, the new multi-family development is expected to be available for annual leasing and short-term stays beginning in late 2023. In addition to the launch of the residential units (furnished and unfurnished), the building will feature many amenities including an energy efficient design, valet parking, electric car chargers, a club room with outdoor patio, a shared residential rooftop space, and over 4,000 square feet of public plaza space, plus more.

A portion of the residences will be managed and serviced by The MC Hotel, an Autograph Collection hotel operated by Chicago-based Aparium Hotel Group, which is adjacent to the building.

Jon Hanson, Chairman and Founder of The Hampshire Companies who attended the groundbreaking said, “We are excited to expand our footprint in Montclair with the opening of The MC Residences in late 2023. We are passionate about this growing community, and we are looking forward to offering to Montclair a residential property that goes beyond the ordinary. From energy efficient design to hotel style services, residents will be able to get a top-notch experience surrounded by the charm of one of the best destinations in the New York Metropolitan area.”

“The MC Residences represents the last piece of the Montclair Center Gateway Redevelopment Area. We have been able to transform old lots into luxury apartments, a hotel, retail space, corporate offices, restaurants, a public plaza and a public parking deck. These developments will continue to help revitalize the western end of the iconic Bloomfield Avenue,” Brian Stolar, president and CEO of The Pinnacle Companies added.

The MC Residences complex will feature 40 units on the three floors above the lobby and retail floor, which includes the new Orange Road Food Hall. Apartments will include studios and one and two-bedroom market units and four affordable units, ranging from one to three bedrooms. Each apartment will feature high-end finishes including premium cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, wood and tile floors and solid stone countertops.

“Circle Squared is proud to have participated in the official groundbreaking ceremony for our 40-unit multifamily building with 2,500 square feet of retail space in Montclair,” Jeffrey Sica, CEO and president of Circle Squared said. “We’re very excited to partner again with The Hampshire Companies and the Pinnacle Companies to develop what we believe will become one of the premier places to live in one of the best downtowns in New Jersey and all of America.”

Due to the residences’ proximity to The MC Hotel, Autograph Collection, residents will be able to receive specialty hotel amenities and services including valet parking, electric car charging, unit delivery of food and beverage, housekeeping, food delivery management and beyond.
