A public outreach effort designed to educate Atlantic City Electric’s diverse customer base about the company’s Smart Energy Network and smart meters won the Best in Show award at the recent Public Relations Society of America ceremony that recognizes campaigns in the greater Philadelphia area.
The honor was one of six for AKCG, a national strategic public relations firm located in Glassboro.
The “Best in Show” recognition was earned for the team’s Multicultural Communications category entry, “That’s Smart: Inclusive Campaign to Advance Region’s Energy Infrastructure,” a public outreach effort designed to educate Atlantic City Electric’s diverse customer base about the company’s Smart Energy Network and smart meters.
The recognition was AKCG’s fourth “Best in Show” honor over the last six years.
“To be recognized by our peers for our work with our partner clients is an honor and reflects our firm’s commitment to excellence and the expertise and talent of our team,” AKCG CEO Chris Lukach said. “As we continue to grow and meet the needs of our clients, we are proud of the impactful campaigns we have built alongside our partners.”
Marshall Murphy, vice president of communications at Pepco Holdings, which includes Atlantic City Electric, was thrilled by the honor.
“Atlantic City Electric is incredibly proud to receive this recognition from the Public Relations Society of America,” he said. “These awards are a testament to our outstanding team and their commitment to working together to provide customers transparent and timely communications across our entire service territory and bringing upgraded technology, like the smart meters, that will further enhance the customer experience.
“We look forward to continuing these communications and smart meter upgrades through 2024.”
In collaboration with its clients, AKCG secured four first place “Pepperpot” awards and one “Ladle” award recognition in several areas.
