Jersey City Medical Center names Hudson County cardiologist as medical director of Catheterization Lab

Jersey City Medical Center, a facility of RWJBarnabas Health, recently announced the appointment of Dr. Raashan Williams to the position of medical director of the Catheterization Laboratory, effective in late December.

“Without question, I am proud to welcome Dr. Williams into this role, as he has been a strong presence and leader in Hudson County and has shepherded the care of thousands of patients in need of advanced cardiac care,” Michael Prilutsky, CEO and president of Jersey City Medical Center, said.

In his new role, Williams will set the direction of the Catheterization Laboratory in partnership with the hospital’s clinical and administrative leadership. He will also focus on collaborating with internal and external providers to identify opportunities for growth, innovation and change, and improving clinical technology and programs to continue the excellence in patient safety and outcomes.

Williams, who has been a member of the medical staff at the medical center since 2007, has been a consistent presence in Hudson County, and has led a large cardiology practice in the region for more than 15 years.

Williams is a specialist in performing high-risk coronary interventions, including advanced coronary imaging and complex peripheral vascular interventions. As an experienced interventional cardiologist, Williams has previously served in various roles as a hospital leader, and he is known for his aptitude to integrate teams, incorporate innovation and growth within a clinical environment.
