Higher education resource guide Intelligent.com releases Best Community Colleges list for 2023

Intelligent.com, a resource for program rankings and higher education planning, on Monday announced the release of its Best Community Colleges in New Jersey in 2023 list. The research identifies top schools in the state based on tuition costs, the number of credits required to graduate and the online coursework delivery format.

With 36 community college programs in New Jersey, Intelligent.com’s ranking can prove a valuable tool for those seeking higher education at the associate degree level.

Raritan Valley Community College was ranked No. 1, with its over 90 associate degree and career preparation programs available. Raritan also has at least 30% of its students transferring to a four-year institution after completing their associate degree.

In the No. 2 spot was Brookdale Community College, which offers 68 academic programs. The majority of students at Brookdale Community College are in associate degree programs leading to transfer to a four-year school. Additionally, the school offers several dual-degree programs with four-year institutions on the Brookdale Community College campus.

Warren County Community College, with its 33 associate degree programs and 10 credit certificate programs, was named to the No. 3 spot. Credits earned in any of Warren County Community College’s associate degree programs are 100% transferable to the state’s four-year public institutions.

Rounding out the Top 10 were:

  1. Union County College
  2. County College of Morris
  3. Ocean County College
  4. Rowan College of South Jersey
  5. Mercer County Community College
  6. Bergen County Community College
  7. Rowan College at Burlington County

Intelligent.com implemented a unique methodology that ranks each institution on a scale from 0 to 100 across six categories. The scoring system compares each school in tuition costs, admission, retention and graduation rates, faculty, reputation and the student resources provided for online students.

The colleges on the list are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Accreditation. This reputable organization examines the objectives, quality and overall effectiveness of education programs in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.
