Darryl Isherwood has been named director of communications for the New Jersey Department of the Treasury, effective Monday.
Isherwood currently serves as sector lead for film and digital media at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and has played a big role in the state’s success in film and television industry. Prior to that, he worked for the Office of the Governor as senior adviser for economic development communications.
“I am thrilled that someone with Darryl’s experience will be leading our dynamic communications office as we enter the FY2024 budget season,” Treasurer Elizabeth Maher Muoio stated. “We worked closely with Darryl when he was in the Governor’s Office, and his knowledge of the budget process, together with his relationships with the state press corps and his ability to communicate complex issues, will be a huge asset moving forward.”
“Congratulations to Darryl on this exciting new chapter in his career,” NJEDA CEO Tim Sullivan said. “I have mixed emotions about his departure from Team EDA, as he’s been such a huge part of the state’s success in film and television under Gov. (Phil) Murphy’s leadership but getting the chance to work with Treasurer Muoio and her great team is a hard opportunity to pass up. I know Liz will find Darryl to be a trusted, dedicated, hardworking, creative member of her team.”
“It has been an honor to serve the state of New Jersey over the past four years, and I am extremely excited for this new opportunity,” Isherwood said. “It has been tremendously gratifying to be part of the state’s fiscal resurgence and I look forward to getting to work communicating the Administration’s economic vision.”
