MAD Global Strategy, Mike DuHaime’s quickly expanding public affairs firm, is growing again.
On Wednesday, the Summit-based firm announced it has hired Cary Evans, a veteran health care and political consultant, to open and run a MAD Global office in Seattle.
The firm, which DuHaime founded a year ago, now has offices in four states (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Washington).
DuHaime said he was thrilled to be able to formally open an office in the Pacific Northwest and to hire Evans, whom he has known for decades.
“MAD Global already has a footprint in the Pacific Northwest with clients in the tech, energy and health care sectors in and around Seattle, so it made smart business sense to grow our presence in Washington state,” he said. “There is no better person to lead that effort than Cary Evans.”
Evans most recently served as vice president of government affairs and community relations at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, a leading health system in Washington state. He previously served as vice president for the organization, leading internal and external communications for six years throughout the COVID pandemic and a major health care merger.
Prior to his most recent role, Evans served at an education nonprofit and owned his own strategic political consulting and public affairs company, where he developed strategic and communications campaigns for corporate and political clients including Ford Motor Co., Coca-Cola and Verizon.
In addition, Evans served as senior staff and consultant for multiple U.S. presidential campaigns, including overseeing the West Coast operation for Bush-Cheney 2004, where he first worked with DuHaime 20 years ago.
About MAD Global
MAD Global is a bipartisan public affairs firm with professionals who have worked at the highest level of U.S. politics, government and journalism, providing solutions for clients that span a wide range of industries, including health care, energy, sports and tech.
The firm has offices in New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington state. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former U.S. Sen. Jeff Chiesa and former New Jersey Attorney General Chris Porrino serve on the firm’s advisory board.
“Cary is a smart, strategic, accomplished public affairs professional who has been trusted by people at the highest levels of business and government in America, and we are so fortunate to have him join our team,” DuHaime said.
Evans said he’s eager to get to work.
“I am excited to join MAD Global and help chart its future on the West Coast,” he said. “I have worked with Mike and members of the MAD Global team for two decades, and they are the best in the business.”
Evans holds a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law. He also has a Bachelor of Arts from Claremont McKenna College and is a United State Marine Corps veteran.
Evans represents the second major hire in two weeks for MAD Global. In January, the firm announced the addition of Brenton Temple, campaign manager for Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, to its Columbus, Ohio, operation.
