Public Service Enterprise Group topped the list of special interest lobbying spending in 2022 — despite the fact that the company dropped its expenditures by 68% from 2021.
According to an analysis by the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission that was released Thursday, PSEG spent $849,112 in 2022 — far less than the $2,663,960 it spent in 2021.

The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey nearly doubled its spend in 2022 — jumping from $351,064 to $716,928 — to take the second spot.
The Top 10 special interest groups combined to spend $6,543,573. Incredibly, that was just 7% of the total lobbying spending of just over $95 million.

- N.J. Realtors/ NJ Association of Realtors Issues Mobilization Fund; $714,897 (+49%);
- AARP N.J.: $648,590 (+66%);
- N.J. State League of Municipalities: $646,740 (+6%);
- Chemistry Council of N.J. (Includes State Street Associates): $636,306 (+15%);
- N.J. Hospital Association: $608,069 (-5%);
- CEP Renewables: $605,685 (+246%);
- Engineers Labor Employer Cooperative: $566,394 (-53%);
- N.J. Business & Industry Association: $550,851 (+6%).
