Atlantic Health adds Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine to its network of care

11 locations across Ocean, Monmouth, Burlington and Atlantic counties now part of system

Residents across central and southern New Jersey can now benefit from the combined resources of two of the region’s leading health care providers.

Atlantic Health System this week announced the addition of Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine to its network of care. The deal adds 11 Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine locations across Ocean, Monmouth, Burlington and Atlantic counties, plus it expands patient access to the Atlantic Health System network’s already extensive list of locations, including CentraState Healthcare System, seven Immediate Care urgent care locations and dozens of physician offices.

“Innovative care that keeps each patient’s unique needs at the center of their medical journey is a hallmark of both of these two health care organizations,” Kevin Lenahan, executive vice president, chief business and strategy officer, Atlantic Health System, said. “By combining our efforts on behalf of the communities in central and southern New Jersey, we can ensure every patient has access to the high-quality care they deserve in a way that is convenient and comfortable for them.”

The wide array of services and specialties now available to Atlantic Health System’s patients via Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine include chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy, occupational therapy and medical pain management. Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine’s 11 facilities are located in Forked River, Toms River, Manahawkin, Brick, Bayville, Wall, Tinton Falls, Barnegat, Marlton, Little Egg Harbor and Linwood.

“Throughout the years, many of our patients have expressed liking the convenience of helping their problems with our team approach under one roof,” Dr. Robert Thompson, founder and CEO of Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine, said. “We look forward to joining the Atlantic Health System network to continue providing the highest quality of care for our patients.”

Since 2004, Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine has offered a multidisciplinary and comprehensive selection of services and treatment options for their patients. Its staffers work as a team to alleviate and eliminate pain and get to the root of the problem. The team is comprised of over 75 providers consisting of chiropractors, acupuncturists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses/nurse practitioners, massage therapists, medical doctors and surgeons who all work together with years of experience to find the best treatment program for each individual patient.

“The addition of Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine to the Atlantic Health family helps deliver on our mission of building healthier communities,” Paul Marmora, vice president, ambulatory services and network development, Atlantic Health System, said. “The team at Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine shares our commitment to putting patients first and delivering an extraordinary experience.”

Through a specialized approach to care, the sports medicine services at Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine are designed to get patients back in the game by overcoming injuries through a rehabilitative approach that meets their unique needs.
