Felician University, the Plainfield Public Schools District, and the City of Plainfield recently entered into an agreement to foster great higher education opportunities in the school district and the city.
James Crawford, III, president of Felician University, Rashon Hasan, superintendent of Schools, and Caryn Cooper, principal, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in March. The MOU encourages high school students and employees of the Plainfield Public School District and the City of Plainfield to enroll in undergraduate and graduate degree programs to jump start college credits and meet the academic needs of the district and the community in key areas.
Under the terms of the agreement, employees and students can apply for undergraduate and graduate programs and certificate offerings, use scholarship incentives and discounted rates, and transfer existing academic credits in any of Felician University’s four schools – Arts & Sciences, Business & Information Sciences, Education, and Nursing.
President Crawford, Superintendent Hasan, and Principal Cooper were joined by Jazz Clayton-Hunt, chief of Staff from the Office of the Plainfield Mayor, and Sarah Virgo, PPSD Board of Education Trustee, who also spoke at the signing ceremony in Iviswold Castle on the Rutherford campus.
The agreement reflects the missions of Felician University and the Plainfield Public School District of bringing each individual student to their highest potential, maintaining high academic standards, and supporting service for the betterment of the community.
