Clean Ocean Action recently held its 2023 Beach Sweeps effort, featuring cleanup activities at more than 40 Jersey Shore locations and waterways.
Kearny Bank donated $5,000 in support of Beach Sweeps, while employee volunteers — including those representing some of the bank’s 13 Jersey Shore-area locations — participated in the cleanup at Sandy Hook beach.
“Kearny Bank made a big splash for this year’s Beach Sweeps, as a county sponsor and by rallying volunteers to participate,” Cindy Zipf, Clean Ocean Action’s executive director, said. “Both are core to the Beach Sweeps program by helping to make this program possible for ‘beachy clean’ results! We are so grateful for their true-blue support, rain or shine.”
At Sandy Hook and the other locations, the cleanup effort emphasized removing plastic and other litter along the beach and at water’s edge.
“Kearny Bank’s commitment to assisting and working alongside its neighbors also extends to the physical environment they call ‘home,’” Craig Montanaro, Kearny Bank CEO and president, said. “Sandy Hook is undoubtedly a delicate, threatened ecosystem. As a member of the area community, it’s our pleasure and responsibility to participate in this Clean Ocean Action effort. I know I speak for all our employee volunteers when I say we’re delighted to help.”
