Affinity Federal Credit Union welcomes new chief financial officer

John McHugh comes to the credit union with over 30 years of financial services industry experience

Affinity Federal Credit Union on Wednesday named John McHugh its chief financial officer. McHugh will be responsible for overseeing the financial management and strategic planning of the credit union, ensuring compliance with regulations, driving financial strategy and providing financial leadership to support Affinity’s mission.

McHugh has over 30 years of audit, accounting, financial reporting and strategic planning experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Affinity, McHugh spent over 20 years at Goldman Sachs, where he worked in the controller’s department and served as the chief financial officer for its mortgage and credit businesses.

“As we continue to navigate the ever-changing financial landscape with a strategic vision, we are thrilled to have John join the team to ensure the well-being of our members and drive sustainable growth,” Kevin Brauer, CEO and president of Affinity, said. “We look forward to leveraging his expertise to optimize our financial operations, enhance member experiences and propel our credit union toward a prosperous future.”

The role opened as part of Affinity’s succession plan that elevated Brauer from the role of CFO to CEO and president. Affinity’s team is poised to quickly integrate McHugh into its mission-driven work of serving members and building financial well-being in the communities the credit union serves.

“I am looking forward to working with the Affinity team and building on the success the credit union has already seen,” shared McHugh. “The hard work of the leadership team is apparent throughout the organization and Affinity’s dedication to their members is a testament to their values.”
