Universal Technical Institute-Bloomfield celebrates ‘Instructor of the Year’

Nick deLalla recognized for student success rates, campus contributions

Universal Technical Institute – Bloomfield on Wednesday said it is celebrating Teacher
Appreciation Month by giving Nick deLalla the honor of being named “Instructor of the Year” for 2022-2023.

deLalla has taught HVAC, Undercar and Hybrid and Service advising courses at UTI-Bloomfield for the past two years, and said he is proud to be recognized by his colleagues, all of whom bring decades of industry experience and expertise to their classrooms.

Consideration for “Instructor of the Year” includes results of the Education Satisfaction Index and Course Completion Rates.

The instructor’s overall contribution to the campus, through peer mentoring and
departmental support, is also considered in the selection process.

“We want to congratulate Nick deLalla for being selected as our 2023 ‘Instructor of the Year,’” Shawn Alexander, campus president at UTI-Bloomfield, said. “He continues to exemplify the standards we want our students to take with them to the workplace after graduation. The positive influence he has on our students and staff does not go unnoticed, and we’re thrilled to honor them during Teacher Appreciation Month.”

deLalla joined UTI as an auto/diesel instructor in 2021. Prior to teaching at UTI, he worked at Toyota.

“I’m honored to be named ‘Instructor of the Year,’ but want to take this opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication put in by all of my colleagues,” deLalla said. “The majority of us came to UTI after many years in the industry, with the goal of passing our knowledge and expertise on to our students. We work to educate, motivate and inspire them every day in order to set them up for a rewarding, lifelong career when they graduate.”
