About that whole “work from home” thing: Avalon Bay is taking it to another level.
When the company celebrated the grand opening of the Avalon Somerville Station earlier this month, it marked more than just another top-level luxury multifamily project the brand is well known for throughout the state and around the country.
It also marked the first “Second Space” work suites location in New Jersey.
Second Space offers residents a place to work in their community that offers more of the amenities they would find in an office while keeping individuals near their homes.
Ron Ladell, the senior vice president who oversees the firm’s New Jersey operations, said Second Space centers around focus and security, offering the peace and quiet of a private, lockable work suite with the benefit of an office environment.
Key amenities include a kitchenette and on-demand printing.
Ladell said Second Space Somerville Station offers a remote workspace that is flexible, low maintenance and distraction-free.
“Second Space brings the office closer to our residents’ homes while providing the opportunity for private offices, multi-monitor setup, hosting meetings and optimal productivity,” he said. “As we roll out Second Space throughout many of our new communities, our residents are very appreciative of its proximate convenience and the flexibility of the coworking design and environment.”
Ladell said Avalon Bay still is working out pricing options. And, while Second Spaces suites are open to residents and nonresidents, Ladell said residents will be given a discounted price.
Avalon Somerville Station is an upscale suburban transit-oriented community offering generously sized homes loaded with amenities. The community is located next to the Somerville train station and is only 150 feet away from Division Street, the heart of downtown Somerville, where residents can shop and dine car-free. The station is on the New Jersey Transit Raritan Valley Line, getting commuters to New York Penn Station in about 90 minutes and Newark Penn Station in about 60 minutes.
Residents also will have access to the Bridgewater Commons Mall and the Route 22 retail corridor within 3 miles from the community.
Ladell said he is confident the project will lease up quickly.
