Ascendia Bank, a 100-year-old Hawthorne-based financial institution formerly known as Glen Rock Savings Bank, has appointed two new branch managers — one for its existing Glen Rock location, another for a soon-to-open branch in Oradell. The Oradell branch will be located at 550 Kinderkamack Road.

With over two decades of banking experience, Bibi Singh has joined Ascendia Bank as branch manager for its Glen Rock location. Most recently, Singh served as branch manager for Bogota Savings Bank, where she oversaw the opening of a new location in summer 2021. She also has held management roles with Wells Fargo Bank and Commerce Bank (now TD Bank). Singh brings a track record of establishing and maintaining prosperous relationships with both commercial and personal banking customers.

Meanwhile, Ascendia Bank has tapped experienced banking manager Aturo Cousar to oversee its forthcoming branch in Oradell. Cousar was branch manager for a Newark location of Investors Bank. Like Singh, Cousar brings a reputation for strong customer relationship building, and also has demonstrated abilities in personnel training and coaching. Cousar also has held management positions at Investors Bank’s Plainfield branch.

Singh and Cousar join Ascendia Bank at a promising time. Last year, the bank celebrated its 100th anniversary servicing northern New Jersey residents and businesses, and, this past November, it opened a spacious new headquarters featuring a dedicated mortgage lending center.

This year, Ascendia Bank has debuted enhanced mobile banking capabilities, allowing customers to deposit checks, open new accounts, pay bills, monitor account activities and even apply for mortgages via a streamlined new smartphone app. The mobile banking features set Ascendia Bank apart from many local banking institutions, combining the personal touches of a neighborhood bank with the convenience and flexibility of larger ones.

“Bibi and Aturo each bring extensive experience and impressive skill sets to their new roles as branch managers,” Ferdinand “Fred” Viaud, CEO and president of Ascendia Bank, said. “Their leadership will be highly valuable as we expand to new communities and continue to introduce new initiatives and capabilities, most recently our convenient mobile banking services.”
