Applebee’s and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation team up to crush childhood cancer with annual fundraiser

Applebee’s officially kicked off its annual fundraiser to fight pediatric cancer. The bar & grill dining chain will donate a portion from each lemonade sold on National Lemonade Day, which is Sunday, to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

For the 19th consecutive year, Applebee’s restaurants throughout the U.S., including New Jersey, will rally the “Neighborhood” to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding pediatric cancer research and family support programs vital in the fight against pediatric cancer.

Applebee’s has been helping to fight against the disease for nearly two decades, supporting local pediatric cancer heroes and fundraising to crush — or end — childhood cancer. This year, the fight is continuing stronger than ever, with four ways for guests and team members to get involved.

To date, fundraising efforts from Applebee’s restaurants throughout the country have collectively raised more than $14.5 million for ALSF since the partnership began in 2005.

Guests can now make donations to ALSF when dining in-restaurant and online through Sept. 17. Additionally, Applebee’s will donate a portion of every lemonade or Fruit Flavored Lemonade purchased on National Lemonade Day, to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in support of local heroes.

There are four ways to donate:

  1. Through Sept.17, buy a $1 or $5 Paper Lemon Tag and Applebee’s will donate 100% of the proceeds to Alex’s Lemonade Stand;
  2. Order online at Applebees.com and add the ALSF menu item to cart to donate;
  3. Through Sept. 17, buy a featured $5 Summer Sip Mucho Cocktail and 25 cents will be donated back to ALSF;
  4. On National Lemonade Day, Sunday, Aug. 20, 25 cents per lemonade sold will be donated back to ALSF in restaurant and online on Applebees.com.

“We’re proud to partner with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and to have raised $14.5 million over the past 19 years for pediatric cancer research and family services,” Tony Moralejo, Applebee’s president said. “At Applebee’s, we’re dedicated to both Eatin’ Good — and Doin’ Good — in the Neighborhood, and we can’t wait to raise more than ever this year to crush childhood cancer with the help of our guests and franchisees.”

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was established in 2005 to continue the mission of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott. While fighting her own battle against cancer, Alex set up a lemonade stand in her front yard to raise money for “doctors to find a cure” for all pediatric cancers. Since her first stand, the foundation has grown into one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer in the country, raising more than $250 million and funding over 1,000 research projects.

“Applebee’s is truly one of ALSF’s most dedicated partners, raising money every year since 2005,” Liz Scott, Alex’s mom and co-executive director of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, said. “While the fight against childhood cancer continues, so does the support of Applebee’s restaurants and customers across the country. We are so grateful for their continued partnership to help find cures and support families during their child’s treatment and beyond.”
