Kearny Bank on Tuesday announced that Morris Plains resident Robert Kusant has been promoted to the position of first vice president/director of internal audit. Based at the bank’s corporate office in Fairfield, Kusant has assumed overall responsibility for the internal audit function, which includes establishing a risk-based audit plan and reporting to the Audit Committee of the board of directors.
Kusant, who joined Kearny Bank in 2016, most recently held the title of second vice president/audit manager.
“In his time with us, Robert has proven to be a consistently steady hand at managing various aspects of internal auditing,” Kearny Bank CEO & President Craig Montanaro said. “His appointment to this new, elevated role reflects our confidence in his ability to provide strong, overall assessment related to internal controls, daily banking activities and accounting systems.”
In his new role, Kusant manages a nine-person team.
