The mayor of Lyndhurst and a state senator, he is a long-respected leader and personal mentor to many. He serves many roles in the community, including as the executive director of the Meadowlands Commission and a member of the board of governors for Hackensack Meridian Health. He also is a longstanding member of the Meadowlands Chamber board of advisors.
