John McMullen
A lifelong New Jersey native (McMullen graduated from Montclair High in 1936), he bought the NHL’s Colorado Rockies in 1982, moved them to New Jersey and changed their name to the Devils — while proudly giving them the New Jersey name. The team won the first of its three Stanley Cups shortly thereafter, in 1995.
