Bergen New Bridge Medical Center recently cut the ribbon on its skilled trade apprenticeship facility, celebrating the partnership between the hospital and the Bergen County Technical Schools.
The medical center places students who have completed the relevant coursework through BCTS into apprenticeships with licensed mentors who are plumbers, HVAC technicians and electricians.
The hospital is currently hosting three apprentices.
“Partnerships within the community, like that of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and the Bergen County Technical Schools, play a pivotal role in building pathways to gainful employment New Jersey workers need and create a talent pipeline that positions employers for continual success,” Robert Asaro-Angelo, commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development, said.
“This apprenticeship program benefits the students, the medical center and the community as a whole by increasing the number of those trained in skilled labor,” Deborah Visconi, CEO and president, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, said. “This program aligns with the overall mission and vision of the medical center, which is to demonstrate national leadership on key issues, which includes workforce development not only for medical and allied health positions, but in every department.”

This new apprenticeship program will not only equip students with valuable skills but also strengthens our community by increasing skilled laborers in critical trades, ultimately building a brighter future for our next generation.”
