“Hollywood East” in New Jersey?

Those interested in learning about New Jersey’s film and media industry can attend a special event hosted by the NJ Forum on International Business at the Liberty Science Theater from 6-8 p.m. Thursday to learn about the region’s burgeoning film sound stages producing critically-acclaimed movies and television series.

The event will feature a filmed segment narrated by Danny DeVito, an update by the New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission, and a panel discussion with filmmakers and technologists who will share their insights about the economic opportunities and benefits for the business community in New Jersey.

Special presentations will highlight the major sound studios for movie production now located in Jersey City, Point Kearny and in the Meadowlands.

Speakers will include Steve Gorelick, executive director, NJMP&TC, and a special panel will be moderated by Jon Pearce, global chief creative director, Hudson Rouge.

Talks will include review of post-strike effects on the movie business, and its international implications.

This event will be held during a popular Liberty Science Center AfterDark evening program, and will be hosted separately in its Presentation Theater.

  • When: Thursday. Doors open at 6 p.m.
  • Where: Liberty Science Center
  • Tickets: Purchase tickets in advance through Eventbrite. Tickets cost $45 per person and include free parking, museum access, reception and complimentary drink ticket if visiting the exciting LSC AfterDark exhibits after the talk.
