Popular Taiwan-based bakery café inks space at Hanover Commons

Urban Edge signs 85 Degree bakery in East Hanover

Popular Taiwan-based 85 Degree Bakery Café signed a lease at Hanover Commons in East Hanover, planning to open in 2024, according to a Thursday announcement from Urban Edge Properties, which helped negotiate the transaction.

The 3,507-square-foot space will be just the second East Coast location for this growing favorite that has a cult following on the West Coast and offers hand-crafted beverages, pastries and other baked goods.

This popular bakery chain was founded in 2004 and the company got its name from the optimal coffee brewing temperature. Recognized for premium pastries, bread, cakes and beverages, it saw rapid expansion both in Taiwan and internationally.

Today, 85 Degree Bakery Café has more than 1,000 locations worldwide and has a devoted following.

“There is much anticipation for this concept and their expansion to the East Coast,” Justin Lustig, vice president, leasing, for Urban Edge Properties, said. “Hanover Commons provides a terrific environment to introduce their much-loved pastries and beverages to this property with high-traffic anchors and adjacent complementary uses.”

Located along Route 10, Hanover Commons is well-situated in a stretch of major highway retail, providing good shopping synergy. The property is home to the first Home Depot in the state of New Jersey and additional anchors including Dick’s, Marshalls and Saks OFF 5th.

The tenant was represented by Amy Staats of Katz & Associates.
