Newark Educators Community Charter School leases 50K sq. ft. to accommodate growing school body

Cedar Knolls-based Newmark Associates on Thursday said it successfully leased 50,000 square feet of educational space to Newark Educators Community Charter School at 570 Broad St. in Newark.

The transaction was managed by Newmark Associates brokers Ebony Parham and Jeannette Melillo and completed in under 90 days to ensure readiness for the 2023-24 school year.

NECCS, in search of a suitable location to accommodate its growing student body, entrusted Newmark Associates to locate and negotiate terms for a lease agreement. The new Newark facility provides NECCS with a spacious and modern learning environment, ensuring the continuation of high-quality education for years to come.

Chalynda Maynard, president of the NECCS school board, stated: “We at NECCS are excited to have a new home. The space was strategically chosen by Newmark Associates based on our defined needs. This space meets all our needs, enabling us to provide designated spaces and rooms for enrichment programs. Our children now have a designated dance studio, music room and science lab! Thank you so much, Ebony, Jeannette and Susanne (Newmark) for all your dedication and work toward procuring this beautiful space for us.”

Phil Neuer, the attorney representing the school, was instrumental in expediting the lease negotiations to assure the timeline for occupancy was met.

Landlord Miles Berger stated, “The Berger Organization is very pleased with the leasing of 50,000 square feet to Newark Educators Community Charter School and looks forward to a long-term relationship with this charter school as a tenant.”

“We are thrilled to have secured this outstanding space for NECCS,” Parham, a vice president at Newmark Associates, said. “This lease is a reflection of our commitment to meeting the needs of our clients and our support for local education.”
