Last month, 16 members of the Larken Associates team volunteered, along with members of the Acosta, Ferrero, Johnson & Johnson and Mars teams to help America’s Grow-a-Row harvest 26,800 pounds of corn and eggplant at the organization’s headquarters located at 150 Pittstown Road in Pittstown.
The harvest will provide 107,200 servings of nutritious produce to support individuals and families struggling with food insecurity as Thanksgiving Day approaches.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 34 million people currently face food insecurity in the U.S. For over 20 years, America’s Grow-a-Row has focused on delivering fresh produce free-of-charge to support those struggling to access a sufficient food supply.
The organization annually donates 2.5 million pounds, or 10 million servings of fresh farm produce, to food banks, soup kitchens and food pantries in New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia, eastern Pennsylvania and, through the Mid-Atlantic Regional Cooperative, the greater Northeast region from Maine to Virginia.
“Having a partner like Larken Associates makes what we do possible,” Kristen Senuto, programming associate of America’s Grow-a-Row, said. “With their generous support, we will be able to help countless families enjoy nutritious meals that would otherwise be inaccessible to them.”
Jodi Prentiss, human resources generalist of Larken Associates, added: “It was a pleasure to help America’s Grow-a-Row support those facing barriers to fresh, healthy meals on a day-to-day basis. Our team takes pride in making a positive impact on the lives of others, and we are appreciative of America’s Grow-a-Row for giving us the opportunity to support their incredible program.”
