TD Bank taps Nielsen VP for communications lead

TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient BankĀ®, on Tuesday named Suzanne Alexander senior vice president, head of corporate and executive communications.

In this newly created role, Alexander will lead communications strategy and delivery for the Office of the CEO and the bank’s corporate and control functions. She will partner closely with senior leaders in delivering powerful content aligned to the bank’s strategic priorities. Alexander, who will split her time between Mount Laurel, New Jersey and New York City, will report to John Pluhowski, chief communications officer, TD Bank.

Alexander joins TD from Nielsen, where she served as chief speechwriter for its chairman and CEO. Previously, she supported executive communications for Marriot International, including its global chairman and two CEOs. She has also held a variety of communications leadership roles at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where she helped lead the bank’s expansion into the western United States and at Fidelity Investments, where she was responsible for strategic public relations campaigns focused on personal finance and retirement planning. Alexander began her career as a banking reporter at The Wall Street Journal and later reported on the fashion and television industries for The Boston Globe.

A California native, Alexander earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She serves on the Howard University Cathy Hughes School of Communications Board of Visitors and previously was on the Board of Directors of the First Entertainment Credit Unionā€™s Media ā€“ Benefits Corp.
