Indian supermarket Subzi Mandi has leased 16,000 square feet at Clifton Plaza for its newest Garden State location, according to a Monday announcement from Levin Management Corp., the property’s exclusive leasing and managing agent. The commitment brings the 95,000-square-foot Passaic County shopping center to 100% occupancy.
LMC Senior Leasing Representative Vanessa Kelty arranged the transaction on behalf of property ownership; Leor Hemo of Vantage Commercial Real Estate represented the tenant.
Subzi Mandi currently has 10 locations throughout New Jersey, New York and Texas. The supermarket carries a wide selection of produce, dairy, spices, frozen and dry food items, and more. Unique to the new Clifton Plaza store will be a bakery and kitchen where fresh breads, curries and other dishes will be produced and pre-packaged for sale. A store website, currently under development, will accept online orders.
“Grocery tenants are outstanding traffic drivers and a beneficial component for any shopping center,” Kelty said. “Subzi Mandi serves a niche customer base in this marketplace and was drawn to Clifton Plaza’s strong demographics and visible location. The addition of Subzi Mandi is great news both for the property’s in-place tenants and the community at large.”
Well located on Route 46 at the intersection of Van Houten Avenue, Clifton Plaza draws 1.5 million visits per year, according to real-time traffic data from Placer.ai. The center is anchored by a Big Lots and also includes Blink Fitness, Dollar Tree, Valley National Bank, Work-n-Gear, Dunkin, Verizon, New Jersey Eyes, GameStop, Sally Beauty Supply, Finna Nail Lounge and Epic Unisex Salon, among others. Clifton Plaza serves a growing residential population of more than 646,000 people within a five-mile radius.
