Neptune City-based Nylabone has donated chew toys, treats and monetary contributions valued at almost $1 million to animal welfare groups in 2023. The donations were made through the brand’s Nylabone Cares program, which has regularly supported nonprofit organizations across the country for years.
Throughout the year, the iconic brand in the Central Garden & Pet Co. portfolio said it provided tens of thousands of durable chew toys and chew treats to more than 500 organizations. These donations help teach shelter dogs nondestructive chewing habits as they prepare to be adopted, comfort pups while they transition to new homes and even ease service dogs’ stress as they train to help individuals needing assistance.
“Dogs bring so much love into our lives, which is why we’re passionate about ensuring their lives are filled with love, too,” Glen Axelrod, CEO and president of Nylabone, said. “The organizations we proudly support care for dogs in many special ways, but, above all, we share the mutual calling to better our furry friends’ lives and nurture that special bond between dogs and people.”
Nylabone Cares partners with hundreds of local and national charities while maintaining longstanding relationships with American Humane, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Southeastern Guide Dogs, America’s VetDogs, Monmouth County SPCA, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Leader Dogs for the Blind. Nylabone has also partnered with National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. for the fifth consecutive year, donating $1 for every custom-made pink Power Chew toy sold.
In addition to ongoing donations throughout the year, Nylabone made a special $10,000 Valentine’s Day contribution to American Humane’s Pups4Patriots program in honor of U.S. military veterans. The gift supported dogs needing homes as they train to become lifesaving companions for veterans returning to civilian life.
In May, the brand donated $25,000 to Best Friends Animal Society — a leading national animal welfare organization on a mission to end the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters by 2025. The donation coincided with National Pet Month, a time to celebrate the many ways dogs and other furry friends benefit our lives.
In the aftermath of the Maui wildfires in August, Nylabone donated chew toys to the courageous dogs of the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation. These highly skilled rescuers were deployed to find missing people on the island and bring them to safety. Shortly after, the dogs were also deployed to northern Florida to assist in Hurricane Idalia’s wake.
These contributions from Nylabone support the Central Garden & Pet Impact strategy, which is dedicated to making positive changes through philanthropic work, focusing on protecting the planet, cultivating its communities and empowering its employees.
