The American College of Cardiology recently recognized Hackensack Meridian Bayshore Medical Center for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality culture and cardiovascular care.

Bayshore Medical Center joins other Hackensack Meridian hospitals — Hackensack University Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, JFK University Medical Center, Ocean University Medical Center and Riverview Medical Center — in receiving the ACC’s HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence, based on meeting extensive accreditation criteria, and through their ongoing performance registry reporting. They are the only New Jersey hospitals to earn this elite distinction.

Hospitals and health systems earning an ACC HeartCARE Center designation met a set of criteria, including participating in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs, the National Cardiovascular Data Registry and targeted quality improvement campaigns, such as Patient Navigator Program: Focus MI, that are designed to help hospitals and institutions close gaps in guideline-based care.

In 2023, Bayshore Medical Center received ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Heart Failure Accreditations as well as the ACC NCDR Chest Pain MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award.

“Bayshore Medical Center has demonstrated its commitment to providing the community it serves with excellent heart care,” Dr. Deepak Bhatt, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board, said. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award Bayshore with the HeartCARE Center designation.”

Hospitals receiving the HeartCARE Center designation from the ACC have demonstrated their commitment to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care through comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence and community engagement. Bayshore Medical Center has proven to be a forward-thinking organization with goals to advance the cause of sustainable quality improvement.

“I’m so proud of Bayshore’s cardiac team for providing such exemplary care for their patients,” Elizabeth Maiorana, vice president, Cardiovascular Care Transformation Service, Hackensack Meridian Health, said. “They have shown an outstanding commitment to providing their community with high-quality and lifesaving heart care.”
