Care Plus New Jersey recently celebrated the opening of the C.L.I.M.B., or Courage, Love, Insight, Motivation, Belief, program, an integrated approach to personalized substance use disorder treatment and support services, at its headquarters in Paramus.
The C.L.I.M.B. program sets a new standard in addiction treatment, offering personalized treatment choices and flexible learning experiences that empower individuals for better outcomes.
With a unique approach to addiction treatment, the C.L.I.M.B. program offers individuals ages 13 and up more choice and autonomy in the services they receive and the schedule on which they participate in programs. Clients are provided with a treatment menu that allows them to explore related topics and behaviors to support their recovery journey and mental health. The program offers flexible scheduling with morning, afternoon and evening sessions to increase participation rates and successful outcomes.
In 2023, New Jersey reported 2,564 suspected drug-related deaths; 130 of those lives lost were in Bergen County. According to recent data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, among people ages 12 or older in 2021, 61.2 million people (or 21.9% of the population) used illicit drugs and 46.3 million people ages 12 or older (or 16.5% of the population) met the applicable DSM-5 criteria for having a substance use disorder in the past year.
Built on Courage, Love, Insight, Motivation and Belief, C.L.I.M.B is designed to empower individuals through personalized care, increased flexibility and enhanced access. Focused on meeting individuals where they are with a tailored curriculum, the C.L.I.M.B. program creates a personalized roadmap to recovery, equipping individuals with tools for positive change and a healthier, substance-free life.
“We’re revolutionizing substance use disorder care by offering a personalized treatment menu that allows individuals to have a choice in their treatment options while offering flexible scheduling to increase access and improve outcomes,” Lisa Centeno, senior vice president addiction recovery services for CarePlus NJ, said.
“Through this approach, we’re giving clients more agency in determining when they meet and what topics they explore. The learned behaviors and values from the program will contribute to a sustainable recovery. By providing adaptable, accessible addiction treatment options, individuals will no longer need to choose between responsibilities and self-care.”
Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, addiction specialists and mental health professionals work together to provide a full continuum of care, developing a personalized treatment plan tailored to the individual’s specific age, ability to participate and needs to address their substance use disorder and mental health and wellness.
Services include brief intervention, outpatient, intensive outpatient, aftercare, co-occurring, medication-assisted treatment, maternal resources, case management, gambling programs, alumni groups for all ages and grief and loss counseling for providers that have lost someone to an opioid overdose.
To provide support in maintaining recovery and preventing relapse, clients have access to case management, peer recovery specialists, family support and self-help groups.
