Lew honored by Indian Consulate during International Women’s Day celebration

RWJBarnabas Health chief of staff Indu Lew recently was honored by the Indian Consulate at its prestigious 6th Annual International Women’s Day Celebration in New York City.

Lew’s inclusion in this year’s celebration places her among a select group of influential Indian figures who have inspired change and demonstrated remarkable dedication to their respective professions.

Lew was one of four honorees recognized for their significant contributions to their fields and communities, joining Montgomery Mayor Neena Singh, the first Indian and Sikh woman mayor in New Jersey; Megha Desai, president of the Desai Foundation; and Maharani Radhikaraje Gaekwad.

Lew, formerly the chief pharmacy officer at RWJBarnabas Health, has long been considered a star in health care. She has been honored many times by ROI-NJ, including earlier this month when she was on the ROI Influencers: Women in Business list.

In her current role, Lew partners with system leaders and external stakeholders to drive strategic priorities, streamline important initiatives and organize functionality and process. She was actively involved with the implementation of RWJBarnabas Health’s new operating model and one system, one family philosophy.

As chief pharmacy officer, she oversaw 27 divisions within the system’s Pharmacy Enterprise and was responsible for all clinical, quality, patient safety and financial outcomes related to medication use across the continuum of care. A strategic leader and tireless advocate for her teams, Lew was instrumental in securing the Pharmacy Enterprise’s distinction as a Center of Excellence in the New Jersey medical community.

RWJBarnabas Health officials saluted Lew for her latest honor. They feel the recognition of Lew by the Federation of Indian Associations underscores the significant strides being made toward gender equality and empowerment within the health care sector and beyond.

The Federation of Indian Associations is dedicated to cultural, charitable and community activities, and has been at the forefront of highlighting significant socioeconomic issues and celebrating the achievements of individuals who positively impact the Indian diaspora and beyond.
