Halpern Real Estate Ventures celebrates opening of Birch House in Jersey City

The official opening of Birch House, the newest residential addition to Jersey City’s reinvigorated West Side, was celebrated Thursday with a ribbon-cutting celebration attended by Mayor Steven Fulop and a group of civic leaders, according to an announcement from developer Halpern Real Estate Ventures, which hosted the event.

The 337-unit Birch House is a community that offers modern living with a blend of luxury and green-centric design. The ceremony heralded the arrival of a fresh housing option in Jersey City, offering studio, one-, and two-bedroom homes starting from $1,995 per month, with immediate occupancy available.

“We are honored to have Mayor Fulop and other city representatives join us today to officially open Birch House,” Joel Halpern, managing director of investments for HREV, said. “Their unwavering commitment to fostering responsible development on the West Side has brought forth not just new residences, but much-needed retail providers, lifestyle services and infrastructure improvements. We’re excited to add Birch House to the local housing mix and are delighted the public is already embracing the opportunity to live in one of Jersey City’s burgeoning new communities.”

“The transformation on the West Side has really been unprecedented. If you go back 10 years and tell somebody that this is what the West Side of Jersey City would look like, or a building like this would be built on the West Side, you would probably have very few believers, but that’s the reality,” Fulop said. “Here we stand and, when we enter this building, it looks very different than the newer buildings that we see here in Jersey City. I have the privilege of being at a lot of these ribbon-cuttings and I can tell you that the lobby, entryway and the feeling you get in this building is really second to none. Congratulations and thank you for believing in Jersey City.”

Corcoran Group Marketing, the property’s exclusive marketing and leasing agent, debuted Birch House from an on-site leasing gallery with professionally decorated model residences styled by celebrated New York City-based Ash Staging. The building was designed by renowned Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners, with interiors and amenities curated by the Meshberg Group.

Leasing launched earlier this year for Birch House, with the first residents having already moved in. The community features well-designed residences with elevated finishes that include custom oversized floor-to-ceiling windows, wide plank oak floors, lavish kitchens, luxurious baths and a whole host of amenities.

Emphasizing sustainability, Birch House incorporates meaningful green features, such as a composting system producing fertilizer for the property’s landscaping, community garden planters, rooftop solar panels, electric vehicle chargers, rainwater collection for irrigation and a 20,000 square-foot landscaped park. LED light fixtures and low-flow fixtures further enhance the ecofriendly aspect within each residence.

The property is underpinned by a network of open space that will be activated for resident use, including a 20,000-square-foot garden courtyard with open green space and extensive landscaping, and a 22,000-square-foot rooftop with 360-degree views of the Hackensack Waterfront District, Downtown Jersey City and Manhattan in the distance.

With a remarkable 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities, Birch House creates a dynamic live/work/play environment.

Birch House’s strategic location provides easy access to Route 440, connecting residents to the New Jersey Turnpike and Routes 1 and 9, bringing businesses and popular recreational options in northern New Jersey within easy reach. The Hudson Bergen Light Rail Station, just 5 blocks away, facilitates convenient travel to Downtown Jersey City and Manhattan.
